About the series
In this late-1990s Marvel series, writer Joe Casey and a rotating team of artists—including Leonardo Manco, Eric Canete, and John Buscema—reimagined the Deathlok concept through the eyes of Jack Truman, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent transformed into a cybernetic soldier. Spanning 11 issues, the story pits Truman against the military-industrial complex and his own fractured humanity, with Spider-Man, Nick Fury, and Peter Parker crossing his path. A gritty, tech-noir take on identity and autonomy, it stands as a distinctive chapter in the Deathlok legacy, bridging the character's Bronze Age origins with a more modern, paranoid sensibility.
