Desperate Times

Chris Eliopoulos wrote and drew all four issues of Desperate Times, a short-lived 2000–2001 series from Aaaargh! Comics. The book follows a down-on-his-luck superhero, a washed-up former hero trying to make ends meet in a world that has moved on from caped crusaders. It’s a wry, character-driven take on the genre, showcasing Eliopoulos’s distinctive cartooning and sharp comedic timing in a compact, overlooked gem of the early-2000s indie scene.
