About the series
In this short-lived, three-issue German miniseries from Egmont Ehapa (1990–1991), Die Heizer follows a group of stokers working the colossal furnaces of a mysterious, industrial underworld. The series, steeped in a gritty, dieselpunk atmosphere, is most associated with writer and artist Ralf König, known for his distinctive, socially observant cartooning. Though brief, it stands as a curious, early example of König stepping away from his usual queer comedy to explore a more fantastical, working-class science fiction premise.
