Don Pedro

Helmut Nickel, writing and drawing every issue, created this German comic series for Norbert Dargatz Verlag. Running for 17 issues from 1990 to 1991, Don Pedro follows its title character through adventures that blend historical and fictional elements. Nickel’s detailed, expressive artwork and his sole stewardship of the series give it a distinctive, personal voice within the landscape of early-90s European comics.
