About the series
In the mid-1950s, Charlton Comics launched a short-lived series based on the newspaper strip and radio hero Don Winslow, a naval intelligence officer. Lasting just four issues, the comic paired the square-jawed Winslow with his sidekick Red Pennington in seafaring adventures, with artist John Jordan providing the most consistent visual presence across the run. Though brief, the series represents a classic Cold War-era pulp hero's transition into the four-color medium.
