Dracula
New English Library [NEL] · 1972–1973 · 12 issues
About the series
In 1972, the British publisher New English Library launched a stark, black-and-white horror comic simply titled Dracula, running for twelve issues. Primarily written by Laurence James and Sadko, the series is visually defined by the haunting, expressionistic art of Spanish master Esteban Maroto, whose work gives the book a distinct European horror-comic feel. It stands apart from American comics of the era for its mature, unflinching tone and its focus on gothic atmosphere and psychological dread rather than superheroics, making it a cult landmark in 1970s horror comics.
