About the series
From 1984 to 2003, the Dutch water authority Unie van Waterschappen published Droppie Water, a four-issue comic series that used a friendly, anthropomorphic water-drop character to teach children about water management, dikes, and environmental stewardship. Primarily written and drawn by Robert van der Kroft and Edwin Stierman, the series blended educational content with lighthearted adventure, making complex hydrological topics accessible to young readers. Though brief in its run, Droppie Water stands as a charming example of a public-information comic, reflecting a unique era of government-sponsored sequential art in the Netherlands.
