About the series
In the mid-2000s, Tokyopop brought the cult manga Eat-Man to English-speaking audiences in a 10-issue run under its Asuka imprint. Written and drawn by Akihito Yoshitomi, the series follows Bolt Crank, a wandering mercenary with the bizarre ability to consume any metal object and then manifest it as a weapon from his hand. A blend of sci-fi, action, and existential wandering, Eat-Man stands out for its inventive premise and the quiet, enigmatic charm of its protagonist, making it a memorable entry in Tokyopop's push to localize offbeat Japanese comics.
