About the series
In the early 2000s, Tokyopop brought the manga Elemental Gelade to English-speaking readers, a fantasy-adventure series set in a world where sentient weapons called "Elemental Gelade" bond with human partners. The story follows Coud, a young sky pirate, who discovers a mysterious girl named Ren who can transform into a powerful blade, thrusting them into a conflict with those who seek to control such beings. Best known for the work of creator Mayumi Azuma, the series combines swashbuckling action with themes of friendship and destiny. Its twelve-issue run offers a complete, self-contained saga that helped introduce Western audiences to the popular Japanese franchise.
