In Excellence (2019–present, Image), writer Brandon Thomas and artist Khary Randolph introduce a world where magic is an inherited legacy, passed down through powerful bloodlines. The story follows Spencer Dales, a young Black magician who must navigate a secret society of sorcerers while challenging its rigid traditions and systemic inequities. With its dynamic, Afrofuturist visuals and a focus on generational change, this series reimagines the fantasy genre through a lens of identity and justice.
