Fantom
Semic · 1989–1992 · 24 issues
About the series
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, French publisher Semic launched Fantom, a 24-issue series that brought a dark, European sensibility to the superhero genre. The title followed the adventures of its masked, vigilante protagonist through moody, adult-oriented stories that stood apart from more traditional American superhero fare. While the series is primarily remembered for its distinctive art and atmosphere, it remains a cult favorite among fans of non-mainstream, international comics from that era.
