Female Force Ruth Handler

In the inaugural issue of Female Force: Ruth Handler, Bluewater Productions launched its biographical comic series spotlighting influential women with the story of the co-founder of Mattel and creator of the Barbie doll. This one-shot, written by a team that included Marc Shapiro, examines Handler's entrepreneurial drive and the cultural impact of her most famous invention, from her early career to her later work with breast prosthetics. Though a standalone issue, it set the template for Bluewater's ongoing Female Force line, which would go on to profile dozens of groundbreaking women from politics, science, and the arts.
