Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.

About the series
In the early 2010s, DC Comics unleashed a monstrous new take on the classic creature with Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E., a 17-issue series that blended horror, science fiction, and super-spy action. Written primarily by Matt Kindt, Jeff Lemire, and Dan DiDio, with art from Alberto Ponticelli, Lee Bermejo, and Fernando Dagnino, the book followed Frankenstein as a field operative for the supernatural defense organization S.H.A.D.E., leading a team of oddball monsters on missions that were as weird as they were violent. A key part of DC's New 52 relaunch, it stands out for its darkly humorous, creature-feature aesthetic and its willingness to treat a classic literary figure as a gritty, bullet-riddled action hero.
