About the series
In the early 1970s, Heavy Duty Comics published just two issues of Fritz the Cat, a satirical underground comic strip collection that extended the anarchic, adult-oriented misadventures of its feline antihero. Associated with the counterculture movement of the era, the series captured the transgressive energy of underground comix, offering a raw, unflinching look at American society through the eyes of its cynical, pleasure-seeking protagonist. Though brief, these issues cemented Fritz as an enduring icon of the medium's rebellious spirit.
