Funny Pages

Centaur · 1938–1940 · 26 issues
About the series

In the late 1930s, Centaur Publications launched Funny Pages, a 26-issue anthology that helped define the early superhero and adventure-comic boom. Most frequently crafted by writer-artist Paul Gustavson, alongside regulars Dick Ryan and Bob Wood, the series was a proving ground for raw, pre-golden-age energy—packing each issue with masked crime-fighters, jungle heroes, and slapstick humor. Though short-lived, it stands as a vital artifact of the formative years when comic books were still finding their visual language and narrative footing.
