Gay Comix

A landmark anthology series published by Bob Ross from 1985 to 1992, Gay Comix ran for nine issues and provided a vital platform for LGBTQ+ voices in comics during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The series is most strongly associated with frequent contributors Tim Barela, Jeff A. Krell, and Jerry Mills as writers, while artists Tim Barela, Michael Goldberg, and Patrick Marcel shaped its visual identity. As one of the first dedicated gay comics anthologies, it offered a space for authentic, often autobiographical storytelling at a time when mainstream comics rarely addressed queer lives, making it an essential document of the era's underground comix scene.
