Ghost Rider
Superior · 1950–1951 · 4 issues
About the series
Before he became a legend of fantasy painting, Frank Frazetta co-created a very different kind of Ghost Rider for Superior Comics—a Western hero on a white horse, not a flaming-skulled biker. Running just four issues from 1950 to 1951, this original series, also drawn by Dick Ayers, established the name and six-gun iconography that would later be borrowed and transformed by Marvel. It’s a fascinating, short-lived piece of pre-Code comics history, showcasing Frazetta’s early energy and the pulp roots of a character who would find a second, far more famous life decades later.
