About the series
In the 1980s, Yugoslav publisher Dečje novine released Gigant, a 77-issue comic series that offered a sweeping showcase of fantasy and science-fiction illustration. The series is most closely associated with the iconic work of Frank Frazetta and Patrick Woodroffe, whose powerful, imaginative art defined its visual identity across the decade. Gigant mattered as a key cultural conduit, bringing Western genre art to Eastern European readers during a time of limited access, and it remains a landmark anthology for its ambitious scope and high-caliber artistic curation.
