About the series
From 2023 onward, IDW’s Godzilla Rivals pitted the King of the Monsters against a rotating cast of classic Toho adversaries in a series of standalone, four-issue battles. Each installment paired a different creative team with a new foe—such as Mothra, Mechagodzilla, and Hedorah—allowing for varied artistic takes on the core premise of one-on-one monster mayhem. While no single talent defined the series, it served as a focused, anthology-style showcase for the enduring appeal of Godzilla’s rogues’ gallery.
