Guy Gardner: Warrior
DC · 1994–1996 · 29 issues
About the series
In the mid-1990s, DC Comics took the hotheaded former Green Lantern Guy Gardner in a bizarre new direction with Guy Gardner: Warrior. After a mysterious transformation grants him shape-shifting powers and a new, alien identity, Gardner sheds his power ring to become the red-and-gold-clad Warrior, blending superheroics with a gritty, street-level attitude. Written primarily by Beau Smith and Chuck Dixon, with art by Mitch Byrd and Marc Campos, this 29-issue series carved out a cult-favorite niche by leaning into over-the-top action and a rotating cast that includes Arisia and the villainous Tiger-Man. It stands as a bold, if divisive, experiment in reinventing a classic DC character for the edgier comics landscape of the era.
