In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Norwegian readers met the mischievous woodpecker Hakke Hakkespett in his own 39-issue series, published by Serieforlaget, Se-Bladene, and Stabenfeldt. While the character's adventures were most frequently scripted by Carl Fallberg, the visual energy was driven by a team of artists including John Carey, Frank McSavage, and Paul Murry. This series brought a classic, slapstick Disney-style humor to Norwegian comics stands, offering a lively and enduring showcase for the irrepressible bird's antics.
