This short-lived but potent 2013 series from Delcourt packs a brutal, surreal punch. Written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Darick Robertson, it follows a disgraced ex-cop turned hitman whose life is upended when his young daughter’s imaginary friend—a tiny, hyperactive blue horse named Happy—appears to him, demanding he save her from a horrifying Santa Claus–themed conspiracy. Its darkly comic, violent streak and memorable central concept make it a cult standout in modern creator-owned comics.
