Harlem Heroes

In the early 1990s, Fleetway/Quality revived a classic British sports concept with Harlem Heroes, a six-issue series that transplanted the high-flying action of the original 1970s strip into a gritty, modern urban setting. Written by Michael Fleisher with visceral art by Steve Dillon, the comic follows a team of streetwise basketball players battling corruption and violence in a hyper-competitive, near-future league. Though short-lived, it remains a striking example of Dillon's early work and a cult favorite for fans of 1990s British comics.
