Idiotland

In the early 1990s, Fantagraphics published Idiotland, a seven-issue comic series by the duo Doug Allen and Gary Leib. Known for its surreal, deadpan humor and labyrinthine, absurdist plots, the series followed a cast of oddball characters through a world of bureaucratic nightmares and pop-culture detritus. Allen and Leib’s distinctive, cartoony artwork and off-kilter storytelling made Idiotland a cult-favorite artifact of the alternative-comics scene.
