Indrajal Comics, launched in 1973 by Bennett, Coleman & Co. (publishers of The Times of India), was a pioneering Indian anthology series that introduced generations of readers to Western adventure strips and local heroes. Spanning 18 issues, it is best remembered for featuring the first Indian comics appearances of iconic characters like The Phantom and Mandrake the Magician, translated into regional languages. The series helped establish a comics-reading culture in India, bridging global storytelling with local audiences.
