Josie and the Pussycats
Archie · 1969–1982 · 62 issues
About the series
Archie Comics launched Josie and the Pussycats in 1969, spinning off the popular teen band into their own 62-issue series that ran through 1982. Anchored by the iconic art of Dan DeCarlo and the steady writing of Frank Doyle, Dick Malmgren, and George Gladir, the book followed Josie McCoy, Valerie Brown, and Melody Valentine as they balanced musical hijinks with the schemes of wealthy rival Alexandra Cabot and her brother Alexander III. The series cemented the Pussycats as one of Archie’s most enduring properties, blending classic slapstick humor with a lively, mod aesthetic that defined a generation of comics.
