Journey: Wardrums

William Messner-Loebs wrote and drew this short-lived Fantagraphics series from 1987 to 1990, which ran for just two issues. A companion to his earlier Journey, Wardrums continues the creator’s earthy, character-driven exploration of frontier life and Native American themes. Though brief, it stands as a distinctive example of late-1980s alternative comics, showcasing Messner-Loebs’ singular voice in both storytelling and art.
