Jugurtha

In the late 1970s, the Belgian publisher Uitgeverij Helmond released Jugurtha, a three-issue comic series chronicling the life of the ancient Numidian king who fought the Roman Republic. Crafted by the acclaimed European talents Franz and Hermann, the series brings a gritty, historically grounded sensibility to the story of a North African leader's rebellion. Though brief, Jugurtha stands as a notable example of the period's sophisticated, adult-oriented adventure comics from the Low Countries.
