Jungla

De Vrijbuiter; De Schorpioen · 1971–1974 · 30 issues
About the series

In the early 1970s, the Belgian publisher De Vrijbuiter launched Jungla, a gritty jungle adventure series starring the white hunter De Schorpioen. Running for 30 issues, the strip blended exotic locales with the raw, naturalistic art style typical of the era's European adventure comics. While the series is best remembered for its atmospheric wilderness settings and morally ambiguous hero, it stands as a distinctive, if lesser-known, entry in the wave of adult-oriented European comics that preceded the boom of the late 1970s.
