About the series
Marvel’s Justice (1947–1955) was a 52-issue crime and horror anthology that showcased the darker side of post-war comics, often delivering twist-ending morality tales. The series is most closely associated with writer Carl Wessler and a rotating stable of artists including George Tuska, Gene Colan, and Tony DiPreta, whose moody, shadow-drenched visuals gave each story a cinematic punch. While not a superhero title, Justice helped define Marvel’s pre-Atlas era of suspenseful, character-driven short stories, and its influence can be felt in the publisher’s later turn toward more psychologically complex genre work.
