Justy
Viz · 1988–1989 · 9 issues
About the series
In the late 1980s, Viz brought over Justy, a short-lived manga series by Tsuguo Okazaki (with additional writing by Dave Smeds and Satoru Fujii) that ran for nine issues. A sci-fi action tale blending cyberpunk aesthetics with martial arts, it follows a young woman with extraordinary powers navigating a dystopian future. Though its run was brief, Justy stands as an early example of Viz's push to introduce English-speaking readers to Japanese comics, showcasing the publisher's foundational role in the manga boom.
