In the late 1990s, Marvel returned Ka-Zar to the Savage Land for a 20-issue series that balanced jungle adventure with modern storytelling. Writers Mark Waid, Christopher Priest, and James Felder, alongside artists like Andy Kubert and Kenny Martinez, deepened the mythos of Kevin Plunder and his mate Shanna the She-Devil, while introducing his brother Matthew Plunder to the cast.
