In the early 2000s, Shanda Fantasy Arts released six issues of Katmandu Annual, a series that blended mystical adventure with contemporary fantasy. Most closely associated with writer and artist Ben Dunn, the annuals expanded the world of the main Katmandu series, offering self-contained stories that deepened the lore of its exotic, magic-infused setting. These issues matter as a showcase for Dunn's distinctive, anime-influenced style and as a key part of the small-press fantasy boom of the era.
