Kick Wilstra

In the late 1950s, Dutch newspaper Het Parool and later Nieuwe Pers published Kick Wilstra, a short-lived comic series spanning 18 issues. Created by artist Henk Sprenger, the strip followed the adventures of its titular character, a sportsman whose exploits captured the post-war Dutch imagination. Though brief, the series stands as a notable example of mid-century European newspaper comics, showcasing Sprenger's clean, dynamic linework and his contribution to the Netherlands' vibrant comic strip tradition.
