In the late 1990s, French publisher Soleil launched Kookaburra, a fantasy series from writer-artist Crisse and collaborator Nicolas Mitric that unfolds across eight issues. The story follows a young boy chosen by the spirit of a magical kookaburra bird to defend a mystical realm from encroaching darkness.
