Krazy Kat

Dell Comics revived George Herriman’s newspaper masterpiece for a brief, five-issue run in the early 1950s, adapting the surreal, poetic adventures of the lovestruck feline Krazy Kat, the brick-throwing Ignatz Mouse, and the stern Offissa Pupp. While Herriman’s original strip was long concluded, this comic continued the dreamlike, minimalist art and playful language of the Coconino County setting. Although short-lived, the series is a notable attempt to preserve the unique spirit of one of comics’ most celebrated works for a new generation of readers.
