About the series
A short-lived but potent horror anthology from 1971–1972, Kyohu (Fear) was a three-issue series from Akita Shoten, entirely written and illustrated by the legendary manga creator Kazuo Umezz. Known for his psychologically unsettling and grotesque storytelling, Umezz crafted a collection of standalone terror tales that showcased his signature blend of childhood dread and body horror. Though brief, the series stands as a concentrated example of Umezz's mastery in the horror genre during the early 1970s.
