L. A. Comics

A short-lived, two-issue series from the early 1970s published by Los Angeles Comic Book Company, L. A. Comics is a curious artifact of the underground comix era. Most associated with writer Dennis Ellefson and the collective Icelandic Codpiece Comic Studios, who also handled the art, the series reflects the raw, experimental energy of its time. Though it lasted only a brief run, it stands as a niche example of the regional, self-published comics that flourished outside the mainstream.
