About the series
A French weekly comic anthology published by SPE from 1937 to 1940, L'As ran for 169 issues and showcased adventure and humor strips during the late Golden Age of bande dessinée. The series is most closely associated with artist Jen Trubert, whose frequent contributions defined much of its visual identity. Though its run was cut short by World War II, L'As remains a notable artifact of pre-war French comics publishing.
