About the series
In the late 1990s, French publisher Glénat released Le Troisième testament, a four-issue series that wove a dense, historical thriller about a secret Christian text and a centuries-old conspiracy. Written by Xavier Dorison with art by Alex Alice, the story follows a young monk in 14th-century Switzerland who stumbles upon a forbidden manuscript that could challenge the very foundations of the Church. Its atmospheric, cinematic storytelling and intricate world-building made it a standout in the European bande dessinée tradition, marking a key early collaboration for the creative duo.
