From 1941 to 1950, Dell Comics brought the chaotic, gag-driven world of the Warner Bros. cartoon shorts to the four-color page with Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Comics. Over 107 issues, the series starred Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, and a supporting cast of regulars like Sniffles and Petunia Pig, with artwork most frequently credited to the Leon Schlesinger studio's house style, as well as regulars Dan Gormley and Don Gunn. It stands as a foundational licensed comic, capturing the anarchic energy of the cartoons and helping to cement these characters as pop-culture icons long before their modern ubiquity.
