Lucifera

In the early 1970s, the Italian publisher Der Freibeuter introduced readers to the dark fantasy world of Lucifera, a series that ran for 24 issues from 1972 to 1974. Written primarily by Remo Pizzardi and Rubino Ventura, and illustrated by a rotating team including Studio Rosi, Leone Frollo, and Tito Marchioro, the comic blended gothic horror with erotic adventure. Its significance lies in its unflinching, mature tone during a period when Italian fumetti were pushing the boundaries of adult-themed storytelling.
