Lupo Extra

In the mid-1980s, German publisher Pabel Verlag launched Lupo Extra, a 22-issue comic series that ran from 1986 to 1987. A spin-off of the popular Lupo magazine, the title offered an eclectic mix of adventure, fantasy, and science-fiction stories, with a particular focus on the heroic exploits of the barbarian warrior Borbarad. While many hands contributed to the series, it is most strongly associated with the dynamic artwork of José Ortiz, whose powerful, detailed style gave the series its gritty, memorable visual identity. Lupo Extra remains a notable entry in the landscape of German newsstand comics, capturing the era's appetite for genre thrills and European comic artistry.
