Mad pocket

From 1969 to 1974, the Norwegian series Mad pocket (published by Illustrerte Klassikere / Williams Forlag) brought the signature satire of the American Mad magazine to a compact, pocket-sized format over 16 issues. Anchored by the absurdist cartoons of Don Martin, the clever fold-ins of Al Jaffee, and the kinetic, wordless gags of Sergio Aragonés, the series offered a localized yet faithful dose of countercultural humor. Writers like Bjørn Morisse, Brita Syvertsen, and Dave Berg contributed to the irreverent mix, making this a key conduit for Mad's brand of parody in Norway during the early 1970s.
