Magnus Robot Fighter / Nexus

In 1993 and 1994, Acclaim and Dark Horse teamed up for a two-issue crossover that pitted Mike Baron and Steve Rude’s thoughtful, pacifist space adventurer Nexus against a very different kind of hero: Magnus, Robot Fighter, the muscle-bound champion of a future Earth ruled by machines. Written by Baron with art by Rude, the story brings these two iconic independent characters together, forcing the morally conflicted Nexus to confront the robotic menace alongside the blunt-force pragmatism of Magnus. It’s a brief but memorable meeting of worlds, showcasing the distinct tones of both series while highlighting Rude’s clean, expressive linework and Baron’s knack for philosophical action.
