About the series
Marvel Preview (1975–1980) was Marvel Comics' black-and-white magazine-format showcase, a 24-issue anthology that introduced and developed offbeat characters outside the constraints of the Comics Code. Most famously associated with the debut and early adventures of Peter Quill as Star-Lord, the series also featured moody horror tales with Michael Morbius the Living Vampire and the enigmatic Lilith, alongside globe-trotting action with Dominic Fortune. With frequent artistic contributions from John Buscema, Vicente Alcázar, and Jim Starlin, the magazine became a proving ground for darker, more experimental storytelling in the late Bronze Age, bridging Marvel's superhero roots with its growing supernatural and cosmic ambitions.
