About the series
First published in 1987 by Semic, Menneskerettighetene is a single-issue Norwegian comic that adapts the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights into a graphic narrative. The work is most closely associated with Spanish artist and writer Antonio Hernández Palacios, who handled both the storytelling and the artwork, with additional writing by Øystein Marmøy. It stands as a distinctive example of European comics being used to translate a foundational legal and ethical document into an accessible visual format.
