About the series
In the late 1980s, Vortex Comics published Mister X, a stylish, psychotropic noir series set in the meticulously designed, sanity-eroding city of Rêve. Under the pen of Jeffrey Morgan, and brought to life by a rotating roster of artists including D'Israeli, Diti Katona, and Shane Oakley, the book follows the titular, bandage-wrapped architect as he battles the literal madness his urban masterpiece inflicts on its citizens. A landmark of independent comics, the series fused hardboiled detective fiction with dystopian sci-fi and a heavy dose of surrealist design.
