Murena

Set in the brutal, decadent world of ancient Rome, Murena (2005–2010) is a four-issue historical drama from the Belgian publisher Boulevard des Bulles. Written by Jean Dufaux and illustrated by Philippe Delaby, the series follows the rise of Emperor Nero and the bloody political machinations of the Roman elite. Its lush, painterly art and unflinching portrayal of imperial cruelty earned it a reputation as a landmark of European historical comics.
