From 1985 onward, the French publisher Elvifrance brought the world Mutants, an 11-issue series that blended science fiction with a distinctly European sense of the bizarre. Driven largely by writer Annette Savary and artist Sesaku Kanoh, the series carved out a cult niche with its moody, often surreal take on mutation and transformation.
